FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What will the experience be like?

Worship

The worship service at First Baptist typically includes worship in music, prayer, Scripture reading and a message from God’s Word. The music is led by our worship leader, utilizing different combinations of instruments and vocals, is blended and includes classic hymns of the faith as well as the best of contemporary worship music.

The message is always centered on God’s Word. You can expect to leave challenged and encouraged! The service lasts approximately 60-90 minutes and is followed by a time of fellowship with some snacks and, of course, coffee! Please join us in the cafeteria on the lower level for coffee after the service. Follow the signs or ask someone.

Grow

At 11:00 we gather for Sunday School. Growing deeper in our faith and deeper in our knowledge and understanding of God through His Word is one of our key purposes. We have different class offerings for adults and classes for all ages of children and teenagers. A nursery is available for both the Worship Service time and Sunday School.

Share

Stop by our Welcome Center to learn more about the church and its ministries. This is also the place to sign up for Growth Groups or special events. You will also find a rack with booklets covering a wide variety of life’s topics and challenges. Please take one or more for yourself or a friend. You can learn more about our biblical counseling ministry HERE.

MUSIC

Worship is an interactive, participatory experience. We invite you to join us as we praise God in singing by following the lyrics on the screens or using the hymnals in the pew rack in front of you. Please feel free to sit down during singing if you are not feeling well or simply need to rest.

MESSAGE

The teaching time seeks to communicate God’s Truth in compelling and relevant ways. Feel free to follow the outline, take notes on the sheet provided in the bulletin or follow along in the FaithLife app. This includes announcements, Scripture passages, and the sermon notes.

PRAY

Our pastor, deacons and others are available to pray with you today. Feel free to seek one of them out after the service. We also gather together to pray 15 minutes before the service begins and would love to pray with you after the service ends.

COMMUNION

We take time monthly to celebrate Communion. We welcome you, if you are a believer, to participate in this act of worship and remembrance of Jesus Christ’s loving sacrifice for us. This is typically the first Sunday of the month.

OFFERING

If you are a guest, you are not expected or obligated to give anything. Our members and regular attendees give tithes and offerings as an act of worship, obedience, celebration, and thanksgiving to the Lord. You can give before, during or after the service as you feel led. You can also give online through FaithLife or PayPal. There is more information HERE. If you want your own giving envelopes to keep track of annual gifts for tax purposes stop by the Welcome Center for information.

Live Streaming

Our services are video recorded and live streamed every week thanks to our dedicated Tech Team. If you are in the auditorium you might appear on-line. If you want to avoid this, you can sit in our Fellowship Hall (lower level) and watch the worship service on a large screen with others. You can also watch on-line every week on the First Baptist Church Facebook Page, the First Baptist Church YouTube channel, or watch later on the First Baptist Church website. Click on any of these links to go directly to those pages.

More FAQs

What should I wear?

We don’t focus on how you look. Wear clothes that you feel comfortable wearing. People dress in a wide variety of ways. Some may be in a suit and tie or a dress while others will be in jeans and a t-shirt. That is not important. We just want you here with us!

What about my kids?

Children are welcome in all of our services! We have a nursery available for the littlest ones through preschool age and we offer Kid’s Church during the Worship Service time for Kindergarten up through fourth grade. There are age-appropriate Sunday School classes available for Elementary, Middle, and High School. The nursery is available during the Sunday School time as well. Our nursery has changing tables and a private room for nursing moms. You are free to use this any time.
